I Liked it BUT...Spoilers

Chewy was great and I love all the themes in the movie BUT there are a bunch of glaring PLOT HOLES or STRETCHES IN LOGIC.

1) The whole 3 marbles scam. Chet Frank and all the shady fight promoters never needed to involve Mike Terry in their con. Mike's wife was selling him out. She was the one that suggested Mike show the 3 marbles thing to Chet and Joe Mantegna, so she knew about it. Therefore, Mike never needed to meet Chet because Mike's wife could have just told the fight promoters and got the money she wanted.

2) The whole lawyer cop thing was stretched way too far. First off, a cop is never going to leave his GUN lying around with the SAFETY OFF. And it would not have been attempted murder. It would have been accidental discharge, the woman just got raped, she didn't know the guy was a cop, so that explains here jumpiness and exonerates her from criminal prosecution. The cop probably would have just got suspended for being careless.

3) The fight promoters having the bullet casing. So what if Mike and the lawyer's fingerprints were on the casing? What's to prove it got fired from the cops gun? And it's Mike's the lawyer's and the cop's word vs who? The shady fight promoters who came across the bullet casing how?

Still I liked the movie. AND

Does anyone know why the lawyer slapped Mike towards the end? I still don't get that.

Chewy was great.

As far as the slap is concerned it has to do with the first lesson he gave her. "Can I strike you?...Then don't stand there." So, metaphorically in the whole film he was standing in a place where he could get and was slapped. Then figuratively he was standing in a place to get slapped, which was the jolt he needed.

I believe the slap was for him walking away instead of revealing the scam. You'll notice right after he gets slapped that he proceeds to try to tell of the scam.

Giggidy!

1) This is true, but from the start they wanted him in the fight and saw the scam as an easy way of getting his idea for free (dodge the legal case) and make him take part.

2) I sort of agree with this, it was a bit silly, the event itself and the fall out. A cop shooting his gun is always a big deal but it could have easily been cleared up

3. This was covered later when the lawyer says 'see you in court' in other words 'whatever, you do not have a case' although she was not to know the cop (who obviously had issues) was going to top himself.
