GREAT movie, but a little contrived (spoilers)

As a person who thinks the honor is being completely sucked out of martial arts (yeah, thanks for that, MMA) I thought it was great to see a movie about a guy who would do anything to restore respect to the broken system that he loves so much. I thought that aspect of the film was amazing. That being said, there were certain plot elements that I just didn't buy off on, well maybe just one--the cop suicide. That felt really forced and unrealistic. Other than that, it was a great movie.

You'd feel cocky too if you were full of myself.

Honor is something hollywood and McDojo instructors sold to children and fools for $10 a movie ticket. Open your eyes child.

That was such a... weird response and yet had a Draperesque quality to it.

I thought it was an OK movie, but quite contrived. It has Mamet's usual use of narrative trickery and verbiage, but one pretty much knows what's going to happen. I'm surprised more here by his choice of subject matter rather than anything else. Almost a "Karate Kid" Part 79. Oh well.

Nothing is more beautiful than nothing.
