The Three Balls

How could that magician guy switch them if the competitors picked the balls themselves and held them up to show the crowd? The magician guy could have only changed the colors had he himself held them up to show the crowd, right? I don't thing the FAQ addressed this part in their "fix" question.

The magician is a metaphor. His switching the stones triggers in Mike's mind the fact that it isn't really about what stone the person picks, it's what stone the audience sees.

I'm not sure... I'd have to watch it again- but, I thought maybe the magician showed three stones of different (fair game) colors prior to putting them in the bowl, then switched them when dropping them in, making sure the fighter would choose whatever color was "fixed." Then the fighter, unaware that he had chosen, say a black from an all black bowl, could hold up the marble for all to see.

I noticed this too. I think it's a flaw in the writing that noone spotted. Once the balls are in the bowl, and the competitors take a ball out, it's out of the magicians hands.

I liked the movie, main actor was cool, but it could have been a lot better written and directed.
