Beautifully crafted, well explained...
Only kidding, it was utter nonsense! Easily the most confusing film-not-directed-by-lynch I've seen in ages. 2/10

sharewhy is a film bad because you don't understand it? It's fine not to understand it, but how in the world does that make it bad? It doesn't make it good either, it just makes you work a little, which in my mind, makes the experience more enjoyable.

Confusing? There was absolutely nothing confusing about it. Great film.
shareAs I've said in other threads, I don't see what there is to be confused about. Do you need a user's manual to come with every film you watch, or do you just prefer a step-by-step voice over to narrate it for you? If you didn't get it, that's your problem, not the movie's for assuming you have some intelligence to work with.
And comparing this to a Lynch film? Are you on drugs?? This movie was as straightforward as you can get without having a giant robot embody the bad-guy.

shareJust my opinion but I think this movie was ridiculous. Fights were not well choreographed, they always looked like they were pulling punches, some events fit too nicely together and character development was too minimal especially for vehicle characters who we were supposed to feel for.
The whole notion of a cop working as a bouncer was absurd and there was very little effort put into portrayal of that cop keeping in mind he was important. Only a whisper about the financial problems come in the form of his wife telling [what's his name]. Then, almost nothing happens with regard to the cop and suddenly he commits suicide.
Furthermore, tell me how did this movie get an R rating. There are so few fights and when there is one, there's little blood. Even the language is mild. The movie is a PG-13 at best.
The ending is a major let down too. Far too simple, and corny.
I liked it. I see why many don't. It seems to be made of parts that just don't quite fit together, and yet it kept me thoroughly involved. The key is that the movie is more about the main character's inner reaction to the outward plot and his striving to keep within his own code of honor. And so this is a film I could see again and again, and feel good about.
Life, every now and then, behaves as though it had seen too many bad movies
