I'm amazed how many people MISSED THE POINT

So how many of you went into this movie expecting the main character to be some brainless thug like the guys you watch getting thrown out on "Ultimate Fighter"? This was a movie about convictions, and doing the right thing.

I've trained in a few martial arts, but it always shocks me how many "martial artists" do not have the mind set of martial artists. How many people are simply thugs who want to kick ass. And apparently, a lot of people like that saw this movie.

I have nothing against the message of the movie... it's a good message. The problem is that the screenplay is terrible.

The point of the movie was telegraphed in the first five minutes: "There is no situation that you can't escape from."

that wasnt the point at all. the point was that it doesnt matter what you do in this life, its how you do it.

the wife and her family were horrible people. as well as the promoter and tim allen.

he fought in the end, not to win money.

Are you kidding me? He was trapped in the end--by the con, and in the fight with Ricardo Silva. He escaped from both. It's that simple.

gmsingh is right, he surrounded himself with people he realised he couldn't trust, wether he knew at first doesn't matter. He was in a position where he was on a total downhill slide. By bringing everything openly and honestly to the front, baring it all for the world to see, from the court case where they say see you in court, to the reveal of the corruption... he freed himself from the shackles that were binding his soul.
