Unforgivable that we've never gotten an explanation

I remember seeing the trailer for this attached to "The Mist" way back in 2007. I was a senior in high school. Now, seven years later, I'm a soon-to-be grad student and this movie is still sitting somewhere on a shelf. What happened? Why haven't the producers/directors/writers/studios ever given anyone a proper explanation as to what happened to it? It's the only film I've ever known of in my lifetime that actually got as far as having trailers/posters make it to the cinema, but the film itself never making it.

Considering the fame of the Dowdle brothers (hell, they've got a movie in theaters right this second), it's inconceivable to me that this hasn't even made it to DVD/Blu-ray. Really though, I just want an explanation as to what happened and where the movie is, and I think someone should open their freaking mouth and just tell us what the deal is. For awhile I thought it was some elaborate marketing stunt to get the public to think "Oh my God, this must be a real snuff movie, and that's why they pulled the plug," but almost eight years down the road, I don't think that's the case.

Maybe it was to spare the sanity of moviegoers. The atmosphere is so dense and the movie is so dark that it's very difficult to watch at times.

so true.

Maybe if you've only ever watched Disney movies. I found nothing scary/creepy/unsettling/disturbing in this movie. At all.

Username checks out.

We've met before, haven't we?

Oh I'm sorry I chose a dumb username when I was a teenager. How dare I.

Wow what a badass you are!

This also happened with flight 7500 where I saw trailers in theaters years and years before the movie finally came out. It did not even end up in theaters. But I think we the public had a few guesses at reasons along the way. Educated guesses
