needed a bigger name lead
and budget.

If anything they needed a smaller budget. This movie flopped hard and lost money. Movies like Evil Dead Rise and Smile were made for $17 million.
The issue is the manner in which it was shot. Very darkly lit, which is naturalistic as it would be dark during nighttime on the boat but it makes it look like they're covering up for a cheap set.
It needed to be executed better. More clear visuals, shorter runtime and more action/gore.
it didn't seem like a $45 million movie. i thought there was a lot of cgi.
