Carrie's wedding dress

Does anyone else think that Carrie's wedding dress was ugly? And what the hell was that hideous blue feather she wore on her head? Her makeup was terrible, it made her look old, and the dark red lipstick totally clashed with her pale skin.

Also where the hell did the idea of the original cheap outfit she was intending of wearing come from? Carrie would wear extreme gowns just to go to dinner (remember her first night in Paris with Petrovski), and all of a sudden we are supposed to believe she would walk down the isle in a plain no-name suit? Carrie would have made for the perfect Cinderella bride, but instead she ended up looking like the ugly step sister!

I second that! With the Vogue shoot there were a few others I would have seen her wearing but not the one she chose it just wasn't 'Carrie.'

Love is not just looking at each other, it's looking in the same direction.

I'm responding late but I did watch the movie again this weekend, I liked Carolina herrera and Oscar de la renta gowns on her, simple yet classy and tasteful. The Dior, Vera vang, vivienne westwood, lanvin were a bit eclectic.

reply

Yes lol. I was thinking that last week when I watched this. I thought it was hideous but to each their own I guess.

reply

I don't think it was so bad. I hated it the first time I saw it but it has grown on me. Totally agree about the makeup though. It made her look so old and haggy.

Don't puke in the punch and tell me it's alphabet soup.

I loved the dress, but that blue feather was horrid.

The first dress was so fitting. It was vintage, so that speaks to its worth, despite lacking a designer name. The reason I feel it is so fitting is because the dress was understated the same way the wedding started out. Carrie admitted the photo shoot dress upped the ante for the wedding.

If you're not responding to me, "reply" to the post you're responding to. kthanks.

to Hissyfit- I know what you are saying about the "dress by nobody" but I think the makers were trying to emphasise how not a big deal the wedding was, at this point Big and Carrie were getting married but only so that there was security for Carrie after she had the little conversation with Big about the apartment. It's as said by the previous poster the dress that upped the ante, and only after the photoshoot did their wedding suddenly become this big expensive media circus, and i believe Carrie got caught up in all the whirlwind of it all. After all, Carrie was never bothered about getting married before so I'm sure at one point she would have happily married in City Hall like Big suggested.

to Digby- don't forget she didn't really "choose" her wedding dress- it was given to her by Vivienne Westwood.

I also hated that ugly blue thing on her head, and everytime she utters the line later in the movie when the girls are on her honeymoon "I put a bird on my head!!!" I feel like shouting at her dont be so proud of that love!!! I agree with the comments about her makeup too i thought the same- OLD.

I loved the dress just didn't like the hair and makeup she chose for the day. She definitely should have kept her hair open like it was during the photoshoot

Ashmi any question

If Carrie was planning on having a low key wedding like she originally was, anyone would still think she would have chosen something nicer than a 2 piece "suit". Even her girlfriends were shocked when she showed it to them. For me, it wasn't so much the fact that the outfit was a "no name" outfit, it was more the fact that it wasn't Carrie's style. She was more a "dress" person than a "suit" person. It would have been Miranda's style but not Carrie's.

I'm sure she could have chosen something more stylish than that, given her love of clothes, and the fact that she always dresses up rather than down. As for the fancy wedding dress, I also liked it but the hair and makeup were totally off. The dress was a romantic style so her hair and makeup should have been also.

Princess Ashmi, I agree her hair and makeup ditched no da ours and she looked better during the photo shoot.

Consider the daffodil. And while you're doing that I'll be over here looking through your stuff.

reply

Yes thank god somebody else felt the same.
The dress was nice - ish but she should hav eleft her hair down like she did in the shoot.
She was arelly ugly bride, sorry but she was and that blue bird???
Bloody hell - no wonder big ran off, she didnt look like a girl at all.

The best dress, I thought, was the form fitting lace number she wore in the photo shoot, with the red flower in her tightly pulled back hair. Very vintage looking.

The one she wore was way over the top and ugly. That giant feather?

I thought the bodice was very ill-fitting and looked like it was made for someone with a much bigger bosom. It just seemed to hang there.

On second thought, let us not go to Camelot. It is a silly place.

reply

The botice was to big she should have stuffed some klennex down there ;)

But over all I loved the dress its was the prettiest of all of them IMO
The bird was just wrong and I thought her hair would have looked better down with it pulled back in a bun it made her face look to skinny

Sláinte I am who I am your approval isnt needed or required.
