Even if he was coming back instead of leaving her af the altar he's the one that left her and he owed her a big apology but she's the one that let the wedding get out of hand but I put the blame on the vogue editor who got her that Vivian Westwood wedding dress, Carrie originally wanted a simple, label-less dress just like Big wanted but she let the glitz and glam of the vogue shoot along with the adrenaline high of a wedding get to her. She knew Big wasn't into all the attention but failed to communicate with him when she herself say she sensed he was getting cold feet.
It's both of their faults that the over extravagant wedding didnt take place but still it wast right of Big to show up at the wedding only to leave
