When is this movie supposed to take place? 2006 or 2008?

Because they keep saying that Carrie is 40, but she should really be 42 if she turned 35 in 2001. Miranda says that Brady is 5, but he would be 7 in 2008. Later, Charlotte yells out that Carrie is engaged to a man (Big) she's been dating for 10 years (which isn't true since they were on again, off again), so that would make it 2008 since they met in 1998. In an extended scene, Carrie says she is 41. WTF is going on with the writing and timeline here? They're usually much better with the consistency.

Good question. It was probably filmed in late 2006-2007 so that's why all the ages are wrong

the one thing that got me was when carrie narrated that the story was taking place 3 years later... i'm assuming after the last tv episode. when was that? 2004?

Oh yeah, she did say that didn't she? The show ended in February of 2004. So now I'm wondering if the movie is supposed to be 2007-2008, ending on Samantha's 50th birthday, which would be correct. Carrie would still be 41-42 though, Brady would be 6, etc.

Definitely after 2007...Hint? The iPhone (shown owned by Samantha) was released in 2007

I always assumed it was supposed to be 2008-2009, starting in 2008 and ending a year later. But it could have been 2007-2008 too - that makes more sense given the timeline.
