Is there a meaning to the bridesmaids dresses' colors?

Red, Blue and Black...anything in particular about those colors that have a meaning to the wedding or something?

-It's the end of something simple and the beginning of everything else...

I honestly think there was no significance to the colors of the bridesmaids dresses. However if you think about it, it could be their personalities

Charlotte's black dress: classic, elegance and always in style like Audrey Hepburn's vintage Little Black Dress from Breakfast at Tiffany's

Miranda's blue dress: royal, level headed but also reflects on her mood, blue. Unhappy. When you think of the color blue you can equate that with smart.

Samantha's red dress: lust. Most people think of red as love but it red hot fiery passion which equals sex. That's Samantha all the way.

I think the stylist chose these colors for the girls because it fit their personalities.

Ugh! I hated Charlotte's dress. Watching her hobble in it remined me of the little mermaid and Morticia Adams.

Good analysis, but I always found it strange that Charlotte wore a black bridesmaid's dress. It looked almost funeral-esque. I would expect her to be in pink or purple. I suppose pink would clash with the other dresses. But a black Audrey Hepburn type dress would be something she would wear to a Met gala or something like that, not her best friend's wedding. That was my thought on it anyway. I could also see Miranda in green and Charlotte be the one wearing the blue.

I loved Samantha's the best.

In the Series when Charlotte is a brides maid in season 2, she wears a black dress.

I felt someone was being lazy with those colours. They re-appear troughout the movie on the girls. Just look when they go to Mexico right after.
Charlotte wears a blue dress, Miranda a red and Samtha a black(/white)

And then again after C and B get married, Charlotte black, Sam blue, Miranda red.

I think Carrie just wanted to be different and not have them all matchy.

Consider the daffodil. And while you're doing that I'll be over here looking through your stuff.

I read somewhere that the designers wanted them to all wear red but then decided that was too matchy, so Patricia Fields decided on the bold colours to make the girls stand out and those particular colours looked really good in the venue.
