Watching it again after 5 years

I love the series, I still do. It ended perfectly.

I didn't love the movie, but because I love the series so much, I guess I convinced myself it wasn't that bad. But watching it again after not seeing it for 5 years, omg, how much do I hate Carrie? She acted so annoying, immature, selfish and self absorbed in the movie. I don't blame Big for doing what he did at all!!

Haha yea I wasn't a fan of the movie either. I don't like how Miranda forgives her cheating husband convinced it's her fault, and Carrie blaming herself for Big jilting her. I don't remember them being so weak. I liked Samantha's ending though, it reminded of the show.

So she got excited for the wedding and it got really big! So what? Plenty of brides do! She wasn't being a Bridezilla or anything.

reply

She was in Vogue, modelling wedding dresses and hyping it up as though it were a public event. You cant get much more Bridezilla than that lol She also let Mario take things over, extend the number of guests, and other changes that Big was obviously uncomfortable with but which she ignored.

Yea, I have to agree with you on that. The other thing, maybe it's just me, but they made Big into a big, whining cry-baby. "Turn around, baby, let me see your face...." "I NEED to talk to you..." "It's just you and me, right?" COME ON!!!! For me anyway, part of his charm was that extreme confidence he exuded! Now, he's a big boo-baby.

I absolutely blame Big for doing what he did. Who else do you blame for a person's actions other than that person himself? Big was being the selfish one in this situation.

The way I look at it, Big was just having a panic attack and needed Carrie. Through a series of miscommunications, he wasn't able to speak to her before the ceremony. But he came back! And she never listen to a word he had to say, for months. That was just crazy on her part and infuriating to watch.

I conpletely agree. I feel like I am in the minority but i understand Big and am irritated with Carrie more.

Personally it just ruined Big/Carrie for me! I could never get over that type of humiliation of being left at the altar essentially even though that could have been avoided too... not very satisfying. Also I find that in the movie the girls lost a lot of the traits that made them great in the series... for example Carrie was never really the "sulky" type and seemed to bounce back very quick. However she spends this whole movie sulking and in a funk. Also Samantha was always unapologetic and did whatever the hell she felt like... here she was forced to act like everything she always hated.. the miserable relationship girl. I know they tried to justify it by saying she felt she owed him for going through the chemo with her but still.. I found it a bit ridiculous.

I actually felt that making he feel bad was a positive. She was unapologetic in the series to a fault, it wasnt a good trait of hers. To me, it was what made her seem like a bad person and it was often implied that it was a defense mechanism. She needed to feel bad about some things and in this film.
