This is pure propaganda. I, honestly, don't care if it slants one way or the other, but this was an avalanche to the democratic side. Whether side you're on, if you can't see that, it helps me understand pre-WWII Germany.
shareI agree, its very biased towards the Democrats (portraying them as the noble defenders of democracy). But, within the film, the truth about the election can be unraveled. Once Gore lost the machine recount, it should have been OVER. Only the radical Fla Supreme Court kept the thing alive for 6 weeks with its outrageous decisions. Bottom line, there was never a legal remedy after the fact. Even democratic lawyers have since agreed with this position. There was simply no way to establish a uniform standard for hand recount of differing types of ballots that were designed to be counted by different types of machines. The fact that the Democrats only wanted recounts in specific Counties further weakens their arguement.
The Democrats consistantly stated that courts shouldn't determine elections, yet it was the Fla Supreme Court which constantly intervened to allow hand recounts. This makes the Democrats hypocrites, and its the reason they don't have a leg to stand on when bashing the US Supreme Court for coming in and cleaning up the Florida mess.
The liberals that still go around spouting off about how the 2000 Election was stolen should go back and read some legal opinions (written by Democratic lawyers) that support this postion.
