Democrats goooood, Republicans baaaaad

With apologies to George Orwell.

That's what I took from this movie also!

The characterization of the Republican characters made them out to be evil villains, almost cartoon-like. The Democrats were portrayed as Lovable Losers.

The scene where Al and Tipper are walking toward the stage for Gore's concession speech made me laugh out loud.

And the portrayal of Kathryn Harris, whom I don't care for personally, was so over the top it was ridiculous.

I've read several posts saying that Democrats see the movie portraying them badly and Republicans see the movie portraying them badly. I can't imagine any Democrat feeling they have been maligned by this film, unless they are just going through the motions of false indignation.

Not that it really matters to the discussion, but I am a Republican who voted for George W. Bush twice, but feel he made a mockery of his time in office, particularly his second term. I voted for Clinton in '92, and I voted for Obama. I remain open minded.

I agree that we are in need of something beyond what the Republicans and Democrats are offering us right now. Unfortunately, the two parties have too much of a stranglehold on the country for a third party to gain a footing.

While I don't agree with Libertarians on everything, I definitely support the idea of less government in general. I just don't like the idea of wasting a vote on a candidate who has no chance of getting into office. Hopefully a beloved, prominent politician from either the Republican or Democrat party will switch to a third party with enough momentum to carry him into a higher office.

Or maybe some well-liked celebrity. As much as I'm against celebrities getting onto a soapbox, if someone is well-informed they could cruise into office on their popularity and at least get a third party onto the map.

Anyhoo, I'm just rambling. Those are my thoughts on the subject...
