Dems fatal decision

I am a political junkie & have read many books, articles & seen TV reports about the Florida 2000 recount. Votes were lost by both Bush & Gore. But, when the race became so close, I feel the Democrats made their fatal choice when the decided to count only heavily Democratic counties therefore giving Gore the best chance to get votes. It was an inherently unfair choice.
Then the film made the Dems search for votes like they were searching for the Holy Grail.
But, a wonderful cast made for an entertaining film, unfortunately it was rotten at the core.

Same here. What happened during that time was incredibly weird. Every legal angle was played and not only did the democrats want to count the "undervotes" in more blue counties, but the part about the Florida Supreme Court just gave them some legal victories without them even asking. That's why Jim Baker's move to ask for a stay in the USSC was kind of brilliant. I also agree that it was a great cast. I enjoyed two of the major characters and one minor character all being in one of my all-time favorite comedies "The Ref".
