Motive? SPOILERS
Why was the killer going about spying on and killing people? Any ideas?
shareJust something he enjoyed. No real motivation or deep meaning to be had. Being able to spy on them and learn their habits etc. would give him the ability to be sneaky and such. Now what is "interesting" for lack of a better word, if his equipment wasn't in that locked storage area, what was so disturbing about the Polaroid pictures the younger brother found in there?
shareInitially, I thought he is a voyeur who is forced to kill everyone because they discovered his cameras and were going to call the police. The cameras would eventually lead back to him, so he had to kill everyone to cover up.
But then renting BNBs, rigging them and killing everyone seems to be his full time MO? How does that work? The movie makes it look like he goes about operating under the radar. Good luck wiping out the entire staff and customers of a hotel and not attracting any cops lol.
At first I thought he was just a voyeur who panicked when his cameras were discovered. He then went on a killing spree before the cops were called in order to cover everything up.
But then the ending shows us that this is his modus operandi. No way that's sustainable. Only a matter of time before the cops start hunting for the BNB killer.
I think your first thought is closer to correct.
I think he is a voyeur and the spying is what he is getting off on. He isn't killing everyone that rents the place out.
He killed those guests because they found his cameras and he didn't want to be caught. And he likely had killed before. But I think he mostly just watches, takes video and photos, maybe creeps around the house a bit.
Once he was caught, he had to start again, in a new place.
This was a disappointing movie. Characters were not likable particularly Mina and the end is just the usual artsy nonsense that just ends up being unfulfilling.
shareHe was anti AirBnB, and how it raises local people’s rent and forces them out of their neighborhoods in favor of tourists who just wanna party and do drugs. He’s actually a local hero, stopping AirBnb rentals one kill at a time.
shareHe’s the antihero we need. But not the antihero we deserve.
