Oakley
shareNomex Flight Gloves. Comfy, cheap, and feel like a second layer of skin
Passengers: It's about sex in a car.
Nothing wrong with my CF issued mortar gloves, I just gote them a size smaller then required so they'd be a bit snugger

I second Oakley. One pair of their gloves lasted 2 rotations for me. Which considering the abuse I gave them, is a really long time.
They're breathable, which helps keep your hands from growing fungus, and the carbon fiber across the knuckles really comes in handy when you're reaching into engine compartments and banging your hands on hot, sharp objects.
It's hard to say which are the best. It depends on your working environment, situational needs and your personal preferences.
Mechanix gloves are fantastic but if you're ever working in the cold and they get wet, they can be the worst gloves to have. Oakley, Blackhawk, Hatch, etc all have features, drawbacks, etc.
