So disappointed this was not a serious remake

I only saw the movie trailer but it told me everything which was confirmed by the disappointed viewers who actually saw the movie.

This Green Hornet movie was not going to be a serious action hero movie. It was obviously intended partly as satire comedy. The first indication was the actor Seth Rogen as Britt Reid the Green Hornet. The second was John Cho as a silly Kato, hamming it up alongside Seth Rogen. Bruce Lee would have turned over in his grave.

I hoped and wanted a serious GREEN HORNET movie, but it was never intended to be so.

Historical Trivia: The 1992 movie, DRAGON, depicts the late Bruce Lee's adult life as a martial artist and budding Hollywood actor. In the Green Hornet sequence, the actor playing Britt Reid is made to look like a vapid braggart with little concern for Bruce Lee. The actual story is that the real Britt Reid respected and befriended Bruce Lee. Reid reportedly studied some martial arts under Bruce Lee. That seemed to be so of many professional actors who came into contact with Bruce Lee. The reaction and result typically resulted in respect for the 5'7-1/2" dedicated Chinese martial artist. That is why Bruce Lee's death was such a heavy blow to the Chinese people around the world. Bruce Lee earned so much respect on their behalf.

Seth Rogen is a pos.

The fact the film wasn't super serious is why the movie is awesome.

When I first heard about the movie, it was going to star George Clooney and Jet Li. This was around the millennium. My first impression was that it was going to be less serious than Tim Burton's Batman but less camp than Joel Schumacher's Batman.

Jet Li has never been in any serious running for Kato. He once commented when asked about taking the role of Kato that he avoids roles like Bruce Lee so people don't compare them, and he definitely wouldn't take one that Bruce Lee actually had done.

reply

WRONG...JET LI WAS ATTACHED FOR YEARS...EVEN HAD HIS CONTRACT WORKED OUT...BUT THE SCRIPT WAS UNFINISHED AND IT TOOK THEM SOME TIME TO FINISH IT...BY WHICH TIME LI WAS WORKING ON THE ONE.

OF COURSE THE VERSION LI WAS ATTACHED TO WAS A DIFFERECT TIMEFRAME THAN CLOONEY...THEY WERE NEVER ATTACHED AT THE SAME TIME.

I guess I'm wrong. I could have sworn he said that. I did looking and found the information you were talking about. My apologies

Jet starred in Fist of Legend...a remake of Bruce's Fist of Fury.
