Just curious. All brides seem to tell their bridesmaids that they can just shorten it and wear it again. Anyone ever worn the dress again? And did you shorten it?
I've been in four weddings, and have worn three of the dresses again. Haven't shortened any of them, and they worked well for each occasion. I'm just waiting for an event fancy enough to wear the fourth one to (very beautiful, but it really does need a black tie kind of occasion to wear it to).
"Oh my God! You put a living room where the crack den used to be!"
God, no. For one thing, they wouldn't fit me now. I've been a bridesmaid twice, both times when I was a kid. The first dress was all right, I guess, just a bit plain. But the second dress I wore at my dad's second wedding...OMG it was disgusting, it was an awful colour. I would've preferred to have worn the family tartan (We're Scottish) like the men, but no. I had to wear lilac. Uggh!!
I wore one twice! My brother got married on Halloween, thus every year they had a Halloween Anniversary party. So for the first anniversary party I was the Bridesmaid of Frankenstein. When I got to their house, my sister in law saw some dirt around the hemline and was disappointed that I didn't get it dry cleaned after the wedding (because that's what we bridesmaids do with our dresses before enshrining them in the closet). After I left the party I met friends and went bar-hopping. If my sister in law was disappointed that I hadn't dry cleaned it after the wedding, she would have died if she saw it after being dragged through spilled beer and liquor and whatever one might find on the floor of a bar. LOL.
My sister ended up wearing part of her bridesmaid dress again when as a bride to be she used the dress as trim for her three bridesmaids dresses and her bridal gown.
I have, but the first one the wedding was around Christmas time, and because my best friend was still in high school it was just a fancy Christmas dress, so I had a few more opportunities to wear it. I was only in one other wedding and I loved my dress. But I haven't worn it again. I eventually plan to wear it again.
I've never worn the same dress twice, but all my bridesmaid dresses have been different colours. I've worn pink, blue and burgundy in my time. All of them were either long silk or satin. I actually was aloud to try on a friends wedding gown once after her wedding. That was a great moment.
Why the hell are the dresses always so ugly? Ok we know why but still. I've never worn one twice but I always say pick brides should pick a cocktail dresses so the women can wear it again.

Yes. And, that's because I got to pick out my dress. I was my sister's maid of honor and she had a beach/ocean wedding and the only rule was to pick out shades of blue/green that went with the ocean. I bought a teal-green dress that looked like a beach dress cause of the straps and flowiness, but also looked like a Greek dress and loved it because of the design. I wore it to the wedding and have worn it alone or with jeans or tights off and on, since then.
