Modern update of an old classic?
So I was watching the '09 mini-series of Emma today and it hit me, 27 Dresses could be a modern take on Emma.
Hear me out.
You know how "10 Things I Hate about You" was the Taming of the Shrew but just without the fancy language and set in a more modern period?
Well, I thought maybe the same could be said for 27 Dresses and Jane Austen's Emma. Both are there for their friends' weddings (many) and usually have a huge role they're playing in the wedding/marriage. They'll even give up the guy they like for the girl that's close to them.
Any thoughts? Obviously though it's not a close adaption at all, just a wayward thought/inspiration for the film.
