Errr...BEDSORES!! Discuss....

Whilst being an entertaining flick, there are many snags and flaws. i think many of them have already been covered, So I wont drone on about them.
But there is one main thing that bugs me: All the users/hosts would very quickly get bed-sores from laying down on a fairly hard looking couch all the time. These would become infected and would turn nasty. Patients who are immobile in hospitals require turning and padding with pillows, very frequently. Without this sort of care, sores and ulcers would quickly ensue. I wish they had covered this snag.

Their surrogate could come and turn them over. I'm sure those chairs are very ergonomically designed, though.

reply

I thought that, just wish they had included it in the film, then I would have been satisfied.

reply

Eh, people 'unplug' everyday to go to sleep, eat, take a dump, etc.

The whole matter of body functions of the human 'operators' was glossed over. I expected them to be in flotation tanks like in Matrix, or at least to have tubes in and out.

I can't see them parking their surrogates every couple of hours to eat and piss and *beep*

reply

In one scene a surrogate is "turned off" for a while because the operator is in the toilet.

reply

Flotation tanks have their own problems.

As in wrinkly akin, well that's only in salt water ranks. A sensation suit could insulate you weightless from osmosis but the muscle wastage would be horrible and you tend to go into lucid dreaming after an 2 hours in a tank.

reply

Surely the lucid dreaming is a result of sensory deprivation, wouldn't come into play here.
