Not that bad
In spite of the poor reviews and low imdb rating, this really isn't bad. It is a decent, entertaining film and not a bad way to pass a couple hours. My rating is a 7/10.

shareCool. I was going to pass on it because of the low imdb rating, but I think I'm going to check it out after all because it does sound interesting.
shareHonestly if it weren't for the one story line I'd give this an easy 7 but that one is so poor and so bad it brings it down to at least a 6, maybe a 5. If they could have rewritten that character's motivations it could have been a really well done movie.

I agree that it was a 'not that bad" movie for all the criticism it gets
But I also agree with Tyler1986 - the story in general needed tightening up, and Lucy Hale's character's motivations needed toning down
And it doesn't fix the problem to have Brax acknowledge the goofiness that all this was "after just one date" - it just highlights the absurdity
They should've picked it up early on - it's screenwriting 101 that no character has to explain as much as Lucy Hale's character does. Spoken exposition is considered a huge no-no in screenwriting - show, don't tell
For example, showing Brax's tattoo in the final scene was a "show don't tell" shout-out to the original series. Having Roark actually call him, "Tattoo," was a tell-instead-of-show line. We're perfectly able to guess what Brax's new name will be the instant we see that tattoo.
THE WE YOU SPEAK OF DOESNT INCLUDE THE 50% OF THE POPULATION THAT THINK BRAVO MAKES GOOD SHOWS AND MCDONALDS IS YUMMY...THOSE PEOPLE NEED EVERY WORD OF EXPOSITION...MAYBE EVEN SOME DIAGRAMS AND PIE CHARTS.
shareIt had a few fun bits but so much nonsense!
Why would the bullied girl talk to her self when she’s alone in the torture room other than to cheat the viewer?
“ oh wow that’s a nice hologram they made. Even better than 2Pac. Let’s push this button here to see what it does. Haha, nice, toilet water!”
The ending doesn’t make sense with the first half of the movie.
Then, like someone else mentioned it:
For Brax's fantasy to become permanent and JD stay alive, Brax has to stay on the island.
So if Sloane leaves, won't that make her fantasy end and Melanie come back?
You know me Ally, I’m not someone who likes to pick on plot holes in horror movies but this one was just too much. I think the part that works the best is the army guy and his dad.
Maybe Sloane did come back. But what harm can she do now?
In fact, it would be nice if she was revived. Yes, she was a whiny psycho who couldn't let things go, but I also hate to see bullies vindicated and the bullied be deprived a chance of redemption.
Also, Sloane may have been the villain, but she was still a guest to Fantasy Island, so perhaps she *did* think it was all a hologram to begin with.
