Much prefer the UK version

I first watched KN years ago on BBCA and loved the show, it felt "real" and non-scripted. Then I saw there was a US version...and I was not surprised how "Americanized" it was. That, the editing (funny how the clips have people wearing the same clothes at the end as the interview in the beginning), and how I felt they told Gordon "turn it up a notch." He was blunt on the UK version, just not as loud as the US version. I don't mind watching the US version, I just feel for those watching it they're missing the real version and hope they get a chance to see it someday. I'm pretty sure there will be no more KN in the UK for sure...and that's a shame. For those of you across the pond, there are many of us that like the original version. Lastly, do you guys get our version?

I've seen both. I don't really have a preference. They each have good/bad elements. I just enjoy them differently.

As a US viewer, i enjoyed seeing the different european locales and learning about the different foods. But some of the slang/jargon was lost on me and i found i had to look up what some phrases meant (or just ended up guessing). But i do like the UK version of Gordon much more.

One of the things that i really disliked about the US version was the announcer. I just didn't like the tone and volume of his voice. I preferred hearing Gordon narrate the episode. I also didn't like how each time we came back from commercial, we had to have a recap of what we just saw. I may have a short attention span, but i can remember what just happened a minute ago.

Fraaaank. FRANK! Get my jean bin. Susie wants my jeans.
No she doesnt.

Yes, the narrator gets on my nerves also! I didn't know that 2 chefs commuted suicide after the show...I knew about Joseph Cerniglia...I'm not sure who the other is. Do u know?

I like the UK version better too. While they get upset they are much more mature than the whiny crybabies here in the US. Fish and Anchor is a fave.

is fish and anchor the one with the husband who calls his wife with this honking sound.... Kahhhhh... Kahhhhhh...

Yes, the former boxer. When Ramsay mocks him for his "call", the 2 waitresses are almost wetting themselves laughing. Cracks me up every time.

My Fav. Episode also!! They were like 2 rams ready to "bump heads." It was great. But, I really believe that's how they acted, that there was nobody telling them "to turn it up a notch" or anything.

Not only that, but there are times when they're supposedly doing an 'after' confessional, but they're wearing the clothes from 'before' (I specifically posted about this in the "Mama Rita's" episode.)

and how I felt they told Gordon "turn it up a notch." He was blunt on the UK version, just not as loud as the US version. I don't mind watching the US version, I just feel for those watching it they're missing the real version and hope they get a chance to see it someday.
Yes, he DEFINITELY was told (or told himself?!) to turn it up...many notches! I recently argued with someone on the MasterChef Junior board who insists that Ramsay's "true" personality is the way he behaves on Hell's Kitchen, and therefore that MUST be how he treats his own children, i.e., as a raving maniac who yells, throws things, etc. He insisted that since THAT is how Gordon behaves on HK, it only follows that that's his REAL personality. I asked if he'd ever seen the UK version of KN, and he hadn't. I said that RKN pre-dates HK by several years, and Gordon is civil and calm in it, therefore--by his own reasoning!--THAT must be Ramsay's true personality. 

I'm pretty sure there will be no more KN in the UK for sure...and that's a shame.
Are you unaware of its revival last year? There were only a few episodes, but in it Gordon traveled to various places that British ex-pats had settled in--and had failing restaurants. Just like in the original RKN, Gordon was civil, calm, etc. Oh, sure, there's the occasional 'sh!t' and F word, but none of the yelling, screaming, hysterics that we see on KN. (BBCA repeats the new RKN, so keep an eye out for it.)

No...wasn't aware of its revival. I caught a couple episodes that were not THAT old, but from what I heard in here it was done for. I do t know if u noticed but I also posted about how the "confessionals" they're wearing the same clothes as before! Just a slap in the face to our intelligence. Thanks for the heads-up! I'll be on the look-out.

Yes, I quoted you! 

You're welcome. They're called the same thing the original UK version was, "Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares," so look for that in the listings, and then check the episodes' dates to see if they're the new ones (which were all filmed in 2014).

No doubt. People don't believe me when I tell them Ramsay is our (consumer) best friend in the restaurant business. Hell's Kitchen is unwatchable for me.

Same here. I deleted it from my DVR this season. I just had no desire for its silly hysterics, which are clearly there for TV viewership purposes. I *MUCH* prefer the Gordon Ramsay who's on Masterchef Junior, you know? 

The contestants on HK are among the worst but then you have Ramsay, of all people, becoming a tool for a buck. What an awful combination. I can't believe he would ever hire one of those crybabies to be an executive chef at a restaurant he owns in the real world.
