Owners

Why is it that the vast majority of these owners seem to fight Ramsay tooth and nail on every change he wants to make? They all seem to have the attitude that they know what they're doing, their way is the best, their food is great, etc. If that's the case, why agree to go on the show in the first place?

I know, most of them just want the free makeover or new kitchen equipment or whatever it is.

Actually if you know business owners, it makes sense. They are usually Alpha male enough to take their fate into their own hands and find it hard to relinquish the reigns. Even if it's in their own best interest. There is a reason most business fail within two years. Unfortunately some of the same traits that it takes to be your own boss can sometimes hinder your own success.

I have known a few business owners who were the same. They either nickel and dime'd their customers to death and expected loyalty or they disrespected customers and still expected business.

It's a mental thing. No one likes to be told that they are wrong. Ramsey makes no bones about telling them in spades they are wrong, so they resist. It's why the vast majority of the businesses toss out his changes and go back to the practices that eventually sink them.

It is sadly more common than uncommon.
