I see the owner Rick is blaming John for all the faults but some of it is his fault too.By the sound of things he's never there.He did say that he lived over 3 hours away from the restaurant, why did he buy a business that was so far away from his home? Doesn't make sense.

The married owners of J Willy's own another restaurant in the city they live in 3 hours away. So their thinking was, apparently, that John would be able to run J Willy's on his own, with only occasional input/visits on their part.
