So, I'm totally unaware of any of the Tintin media, should I watch this?

So, no fond memories from childhood, no rose tinted glasses of fannish loyalty. But it's created (the movie not original cart... comi, whatever)by the people whose work I admired and adored, not to mention the actors! I'm still reluctant, but it's starting to look too good to be true. Is it worth it?

I'm a time traveler, I point and laugh at archaeologists.

Well, Tintin is of course a huge part of your childhood in Europe, so Europeans do watch this with a certain sense of nostalgia (including me).

But if you look at the IMDB-score from US-users (7.3), it looks like Americans enjoyed the film as well, despite the Tintin-comics not being very popular in the US. Really, this is a great fun adventure movie, with one of the best chase-scenes you will ever see. It's funny, exciting, and there's an alcoholic sea-captain in it.

Reluctant why? This is my favorite Spielberg movie and I have no idea why it's not more discussed. I read all the comics as soon as I could when it was announced.
