I didn't like how the film changed Sakharine into a villain.

In some ways, you could say that the film expanded his role since in the comics he was almost an insignificant character that appeared only near the beginning of Secret of the Unicorn.

But as a person growing up and reading the comics, I'm abit of a "purist" and I didn't quite like changing an innocent man in the comics to a dastardly villain. To me, it's like warping a childhood story which I grew up with.

I can deal with it, but just wish they hadn't done that.

Also I didn't like how they combined the story for Unicorn + Crab with the Golden Claw.
I would have personally preferred a direct animated retelling of the same story without changes.

Still a good movie, but not something you can really watch with a sense of nostalgia because things have been changed around.

I've not read the books for more than 20 years, but if I remember correctly there are actually no Rackam alive in the books. There is a scene where a lot of fake Racham are trying to claim inheritance. And the captain Hadoque threatens one of them with something like (loosely translated from the french, but I kept the names):

"You are the descendant of Rackham le Rouge ? Well, I am a descendant of François de Hadoque who killed Rackham le Rouge in single combat, and sometimes I feel the warlike instincts of my ancestors coming back"

So the crooks flee from Hadoque. And that's it for Rackam : there are none alive with a valid claim. I don't understand why the real bad guys have not been used.

I liked this film as is, but I feel it would have been a somewhat more faithful adaptation if they did it this way.

Like in both books that were combined Omar Ben Salaad and the Bird brothers should have been the culprits and maybe for a twist of irony have Sakharine be truly descended from Rakham the Red but be a benevolent man who wished to bury the hatchet and ally himself with Haddock and Tintin.

I didn't like most of the movie. It looked good, but had too many changes and silly action.

But the worst was the change to the characters. Sakharine as a villain, and my favorite Tintin villain, Allan Thompson, being made into nothing more than a henchman. Of course he was never the leader, but he was on the Karaboudjan, and that was my favorite part of the story.

Real life ain't as dope as the movies.

Even as a big Tintin fan as a kid, and all the changes they made, I still quite enjoyed the movie .
