The concert in Bagghar,

Being that Bagghar is in Morocco, and that Morocco is a country which is defined as vastly Islamic. Is it unreasonable to expect posters advertising the concert would likely NOT include a woman who's face neck and partial chest are exposed? Just a thought.

Morocco only gained independence in 1956. Before that, it was divided between France and Spain, Catholic countries. The film is set approximately in 1941.

Many Islamic countries used to be a lot more laid-back about religion, especially that of foreigners, than they are today. Kabul, for instance, used to be seen as a very relaxed, civilized city. Generations of warfare and strife have eroded all that, but in the ambiguous time frame of the movie, it's not that implausible.

...And before that Morocco was an independent, albeit very decentralized, sultanate, ruled by different Arab and Berber tribes. The transition to colonial rule took place in 1912.
