chances they actually get rich....

ok, so watching the trailer - this OBVIOUSLY is going to be one of those stories where the ending is "oh well, we may not be rich, but we really can be thankful for what we already have and were taking for granted!" ?

What are the odds that Momma & Bowzer actually walk into the sunset with millions of dollars?

The real question is: why wouldn't their first call be to a cab company, straight to a hotel to get away from EVERYONE? Call an attorney, set up all the necessary tax shelters and foundations, and work it out...

Because its much more sensible to hang around the same run down neighborhood, with the same shiftless people, and street thugs who will attempt to Debo your ticket and are stupid enough to think they could get away with turning it in and get the money.

i'm sorry - what does Debo mean?

and, maybe i'm mistaken, but isn't it true that whoever redeems the ticket gets the money? it's not like the old days where you had to fill out a form w/ each ticket and give your name (see the movie 29th Street, it's great, and is probably the basis for this film; based on a true story).

Debo was the character from Friday who would just walk up to somebody and jack them for their stuff.

And you cant just turn in a lotto ticket and poof they hand you 20 million in cash. Sure you can take a stolen ticket to the lotto commision but they will ask you questions to verify you bought it.
Plus if somebody alleges you stole the thing they will investigate and easily find the truth.
In the case of this movie apparently the whole damn neighborhood knew which family had won the lotto so robbing somebody in broad daylight for the winning ticket will do no good.
