What happened to the great black films?

What happened to movies like "Do the Right Thing," "Eve's Bayou," "Menace II Society," and "Boyz N the Hood?"

"Black cinema" (as they call it; cinema is simply cinema as far as I'm concerned) needs to wake up from the 70s. These blaxploitation, stereotype-encouraging sh_tfests are just reinforcing people's racist attitudes. (Now I haven't seen "Lottery Ticket," so, who knows, it could be good...............but we all know that's not true, don't we?....)

Consider the ratio of black films to other ones in Hollywood. There are equally just as many horrible white movies as there are to black ones.

I'd say there are more horrible white movies than black movies.........because there are more "white movies" in general. And it's silly to call movies themselves "black" or "white." The movies themselves are indifferent to race. What I mean is that movies with a primarily black cast are scarce, and, when you CAN find them, they tend to suck.

hollywood is getting worse and worse for blacks. there are literally no good black films anymore. unless its a norbit or big mommas house type of film. black male actors are always older. theres never been a black "hott"(as theyre called by the media) new actress like megan fox or amanda seyfried. for the past 15 years its been vivica fox, halle berry, nia long, sanaa lathan and gabrielle union. and guess what? none of them are getting big roles. honestly, they never did. with the exception of halle of course. and now theyre all too old.

Sex and The city = slutty rich white women sipping champagne,traveling, shopping, having sex.

@ OP, I ask myself the same the question too, like what should be considered as "entertainment" or just plain crap. Just from the title alone you feel like "here we go again"

It sucks how there's this small niche of ethnic actors/actresses in hollywood and it never grows until they all age out and there HAS to be new ones. The Family That Preys was a good movie with a predominantly Black cast. But those moves are veryy few between.
