So here's my question.
Garbage like this comes out like once a year, movies that tend to feature all black casts and come out on the worst possible weekend. The last one for example was "Next Day Air" which came out the same day as Star Trek.
Never mind that critics rip these films apart, that they make no money at all, but...does anyone else not notice the fact that these awful comedies perpetuate black stereotypes? Why would anyone of X creed see X movie that only depicts their kind as something that could be considered offense?
I understand the loyalty to support people of your background in different industries, to have new voices heard and for the sake of diversity, etc. But how low must one drop their standards? Who would honestly pay 12.50 to go see a brainless film far far from artistic having any artistic purpose or meaning, simply because said creed is in the film?
I can't help but find this depressing. While I admit, I haven't seen this film, I want level headed opinions from any black people on this board. What is the appeal of this type of film?
