I've never seen Boardwalk Empire but I have a question that hopefully someone can answer. I was wondering if during the course of the series if they ever showed Richard Harrow's past in flashbacks before he became disfigured and without the mask and his face was normal? Thanks! :)

When things started heating up, Richard sent Julia (his wife), her father, and Jimmy's son Tommy to his family home to stay with his sister; he was supposed to join them in a few days. He sent them because he wasn't sure what would happen to him and it was the best way to keep Tommy safe from Gillian. When he dies it shows him arriving and his mask fades into his face and we see what he looked like before the war. I don't know that I would call it a dream sequence, more like his personal happy afterlife.
