What a nice little comedic drama that tries to disguise itself as a musical.

Totally agree, it was a lot better than I expected it to be, it wasn't boring at all. Really wish it was marketed better, this movie deserved some success.

shareCouldn't agree more. This was SO much better than I ever expected it to be. I really enjoyed it and it definitely deserved a lot more success. I thought Vanessa Hudgens was particularly good, which surprised me somewhat. Nice to see her step away from Gabriella Montez into a more unique and unusal role.

Yup, same here, thought this movie was surprisingly good. Commonly used plot with some very un-common twists and plot changes, acting was good especially by Ally and Vanessa's performance really did surprise me. Overall it was good, refreshing, something different and fun to watch. Would have loved it even more if not for the mom, Lisa Kudrow just annoys the hell out of me.
shareHave to agree. This may have been one of the worst marketing jobs ever. It was nothing like the standard Disney star vehicle they made it out to be. It's far from a masterpiece. But I see a cult classic in the making. And I really liked Lisa Kudrow in this. She has been making very good choices lately. Finally a high school movie that depicts high school fairly accurately. And the music was great.
