Looking for similar music!
I loved the band 'I can't go on, I'll go on'! Does anyone know of bands that make similar music? Bands that have a cello, trumpet etc.?
I am Dutch, so please do not judge me by my English

shareThanks but that's kind of different.

That was kind of a joke? I assume you mean ska music since this is supposed to be about a ska band right?
Idk just look up "ska" in google or something.
Mighty Mighty Bosstones
Save Ferris
Reel Big Fish
These are all 3rd wave bands you'll probly like i'm guessing.
Thanks, I'll check them out.
I found Goldfinger and The Good Skamaritans to have some pretty similar songs.
Never knew I liked ska :D

less than jake - all my best friends are metalheads
shareThe Skatalites, The Specials, Madness ,The Slackers ,The Toasters, Furillo, Babylove and the van Dangos.
That should get you started :)
Bandits Of The Acoustic Revolution!
shareAlso check out Streetlight Manifesto, Sublime(!), RX Bandites (the earlier stuff), Filibuster, New York Ska Jazz Ensemble, Catch 22, Mad Caddies, Howards Alias.
Also the band reminded me a lot of early No Doubt, especially because both bands have female singers! :)
I'm sure I forgot some of my favourite ska bands, but can't be bothered to go through my last.fm page now :)
I'll or try not to mention the other bands that are already named, but if you're into ska (and reggae) try Area 7, Bad Manners, Bedouin Soundclash, The Ethiopians, Fishbone, Jaya the Cat, King Blues, Pietasters, Selector, Specials, Toots & the Maytals.
Most have male-singer so they will sound a bit different, but most of them have brass instruments.
And maybe you'll like Bob Marley, some Clash, Operation Ivy, some Rancid, Judge Dread, Prince Buster, Ska-P.
Great way of discovering new music is www.allmusic.com, www.wikipedia.org and listening on amazon ie.
PS: You should change your last text below. So what if you're English is different. Only the ignorant ones will use it against you. :-)
PPS: It's a long way from band in Bandslam and Rancid and Clash. :-)
"God is a comedian playing to an audience too afraid to laugh."
- Voltaire (1694-1778)
Check out fun. i think you'll like them if your looking for something more than a ska band.
shareLook into Electric Light Orchestra, Chicago for the brass. I think most of it was early '70s music. Bread did the song "Just to have you back again". They had some very good songs but you could O.D. on smarmy if you listen to them too much. The Punk stuff got big mostly after about '75.
shareDef agree with the Chicago, also check out Blood Sweat and Tears if you're into the brass. They were from the same era and have some great mmusic as well
shareListening to their song during the show down reminds me of the Communards. Jimmy Sommerville (Used to be with Bronksi Beat) redid a lot of 1970's songs, and he did a cover of Donna Summer's Don't Leave Me This Way would have fit right in.

Correction, Thelma Houston sang that song. All these years I thought it was a Donna Summer song. If I was wrong about this, maybe I was wrong about OJ killing his ex-wife.............Nah.
