Furthering the stereotypes of the Greek System

According to Hollywood, Sorority girls are the following:
Rich
Alcoholics
Pill Poppers
Coke Whores
Sluts
Stupid
Walk around parties naked
Circle fat on girls
spend the night at frat houses

Truth is (I'm a bonafide Sorority girl):
You have to have above a 3.0 to even be in a national sorority, mine need to be a 3.3

yes sororities cost money, I won't argue with you there

Drinking and having parties is part of ANY college social scene. In my experience there was more alcohol incidents at the dorm involving non-greeks.

There is NOT ALCOHOL WHATSOEVER allowed a sorority house, and men are allowed only on the first floor.

At fraternity/sorority mixers alcohol is forbidden and every detail to the food served, location, time and theme of event must be approved by advisors. (after parties are a different story)

HAZING is a thing of the past. We aren't even allowed to have fun scavenger hunts! They do haze in most fraternities and the Big 9 was rumored to have very undesirable hazing practices at my college.

When sisters go to a party, they WATCHOUT for each other. Since guys put roofies or ecstasy or other crap in your drink. Go to the party together, leave together, and have a (couple) sober sisters.

We also are super into arts n' crafts yeah nerdy I know.

I know my sorority required at least a 2.75. The GPA is usually up to the university (so while your college required 3.0 others don't) and the sorority itself but no sorority or frat can require less then a 2.75 for membership though and some require higher.
We were allowed scavenger hunts and still do for pledges but it wasn't like what was done on the show though.

Also on movies and TV shows stereotypes exist like hell. According to Hollywood cheerleaders are stuck up, shallow and airheads but being a cheerleader throughout most of high school I know that's not true. Just like all jocks aren't dumb and egotistical, and all "nerds" aren't socially stupid and obsess over studies all of the time.

The stupidest thing I saw on this show was at the beginning of The Great Cappie episode where Rusty and Calvin had to resort to going to some lame party that Dales purity group was giving since Calvin was on the outs with Omega Chi when the truth is there are plenty of parties on a college campus or nearby and it's not like you have to be in the Greek system to have a great time. Hell I attended more parties when I wasn't in a sorority then now.

"Don't they know they're making love to one already dead?!"

Love Les Miserables!!!

It's a fictional television show, not a documentary.

I'm not sure we're watching the same show. Yes, they showed a few of the sorority girls to be rich, but the rest? Not so much. There's a difference between having a drink and being an alcoholic, I don't think coke was every really showed to be used.

With Greek, they mentioned the GPA standard and had some of the girls be grounded until they got their grades up, they did have ONE of the characters have an addiction, to which she vanished to get help. They didn't have alcohol at the sorority house, and guys were never allowed past the first floor.

It's like you watched the first episode and decided "This show is everything wrong with hollywood!", and come on here to rant simply because. From my experience, Greek did a good job of showing a range of college life, only embellishing it but to say that they portrayed the sorority as alcoholic, pill-popping girls that slept with every guy possible while doing coke is just a ignorant assumption that you came into the series already judging because other shows and movies.

LOL, the sorority life on this show was TAME compared to the one at my college. And doesn't it bother you that sororities are forbidden from having men and alcohol in the house, but fraternities can have alcohol and women? It's ridiculously 1950s.

I've always thought that was interesting that, in real life and the show, the fraternities apparently didn't have rules at all about girls or alcohol in the house but the sororities did/do.

Although, guys were aloud in my sorority house, just not in the areas with bedrooms (the second floor and half of the basement) or the house parents little room area (although, us girls weren't really supposed to go in their either).

This is my signature.

Exactly.
And until the 4th season, there never seemed to be any national regulation for the frat houses, especially KT. It would seem like a frat like KT would be on everyone's "watch" list.

"Do you even remember what you came here to find?"
