Was Superman done better in this version?

I prefer the Snyder Cut over this theatrical cut over all for obvious reasons. But, I did like how Superman interacted with the other heroes a lot more in the previous version. He’s more dark, powerful, and badass here, but he’s too silent.

In the Joss Whedon cut, I love how he went out of his way to save civilians, smiled and made jokes, and seemed so heroic and hopeful during my theater experience. It was cool how he raced with The Flash too. It did get a bit silly, but I feel like it made sense how the world no longer feared him and now he was the “Big Blue Boyscout” we all know and love. More akin to Christopher Reeve’s portrayals.

Maybe there were just trying to slap some nostalgia on an already established alternate version of the character but it felt more like the true Superman to me. Everything else was done better in this one though of course.

I also liked the lasso of truth scene with Aquaman, and how the King of Atlantis and Cyborg didn’t get along at first. And the Pet Sematary line. Like I said, some of he humor worked in the theatrical cut but a lot of it was pretty cringeworthy (“brunch”, “itchy”, “my toes hurt”, “I work with children”, etc.). Still a fun flick. It’s so cool in both versions how he easily beats the other heroes and how Steppenwolf isn’t a threat at all when Supes shows up. Gives me chills every time.

But the Snyder Cut is definitely superior in every way of course. Thoughts?

Yes Superman was much better at the end of the film.

He was the classic Superman people have wanted.

He was positive and smiling.

Not some mopey, whiney little daddy’s boy.

And he wore the bright red, yellow, and blue outfit.

Not something that looked like it was washed in a shit-filled river.
