Why Cyborg?

As a character, Cyborg is boring af. Also, he's usually associated with the Titans rather than League.

reply

Right. Green lantern, wonder twins, or apache would make sense.

I can think if two reasons why he cyborg was part of the team:

1. I think this is 100% true, Cyborg was added to the Justice League in New 52 and the films followed it.

2. I don't know how likely this is but I think it is highly likely.. they wanted to add an african-american in the team.

reply

They were going for realism, and since there are no Martians, it would be hard to have a Martian Manhunter (even though he's a much better character). That, and the Green Lantern movie flopped (though it wasn't all that bad.)

reply

It should had been Martian Manhunter.

reply

Yeah, Martian Manhunter tends to be black when he's in other live action projects, so if they needed an African American, he would be a perfect fit.

reply

Making his human persona black is a retcon, though. He didn't appear as a human black man until "Smallville", I think, but for the first half century of his existence, Martian Manhunter's human alias was white.

reply

That's why I mentioned his live action appearances. Before Smallville, I'm not sure of any live action versions of MM aside from the unaired Justice League pilot.
