DC shot their feet when they didn't bring Darkseid
Now that Marvel brought out Thanos already, the next DC movie featuring Darkseid would be a mere copycat.

even if they did, it would still be rushed and would look like they brought the big guns just to be the first. No build up means no pay in the end and the movie would still suck ass.

Just like Wonder Woman is the first female superhero movie, Marvel now regretted that they didn't bring out Captain Marvel fast enough. Wonder Woman is the more iconic character anyway.
Marvel did the all black cast superhero movie first, though. However, DC did the supervillains movie first. Even when it sucked, Suicide Squad did bring something new to the table.
DC has to act faster. They need to innovate. Darkseid is not an innovation when the world already saw Thanos. They need to raise the bar instead of playing "me too."
How about a zombie superhero movie? That hasn't been done before! And DC already had the perfect candidate, The Blackest Night. Marvel can't start Earth-2149 yet because they still has another Avengers movie due next year. Quick, WB!
