tracking for 120m opening

It's almost certain to rise quite a bit higher before it opens. WW and BvS both far exceeded their projections. Coming after Wonder Woman, this film is red hot.
shareya were just now starting to understand the damage BvS did....
JL is tracking BELOW BvS in every way....
JL is not being seen As an "Event film" by audiences...Instead its being seen as basically just a sequel to BvS....and considering just how Bad Reactions were to BvS, being A Sequel to BvS is not a good thing...
It was a massive mistake to release BvS before JL....it completely KILLED JL as an "Event Film"....Audiences have already seen DCs biggest heroes in a movie in BvS and as a result JL is now not registering as an Event Film....
Marvel Studios released SOLO films first that got audiences invested in the characters and It Made The Avengers into A "Event Film" to finally see all these characters from different movies together in one film...the result was Record box office...
BvS Literally KILLED that for JL....JL simply isn't being seen as an Event Film....Just a Sequel....JL is ONLY adding Aquaman and Flash....thats it....
seeing Batman,Superman and Wonder Woman together already in BvS CRIPPLED JL has an Event Film....
think about this....Its entirely Possible that JL is going to Literally make 600 to 700 Million dollars LESS THAN The Avengers....thats pathetic, Its Pathetic because JL absolutely had 1.5 Billion dollar Potential....WB just screwed it up...
JL May make between 70 to 100 Million dollars less than The Avengers on OW....
JL may make between 35 to 55 Million dollars less than BvS on OW...
JL is going to make between 280 and 330 Million Domestically....thats Literally Half of what The Avengers Made.
lol Why is it that 2 Avengers movies made 1.4 Billion + yet JL is going to make LESS than BvS and not even make 1 Billion?
the Answer is...BvS...It was a trainwreck that KILLED HYPE for JL
Dontcha think we should wait for the movie to come out before we state it's box office results as if they are fact?
shareA lot of the points he makes are correct, though. How much hype have you heard surrounding this movie? BvS doesn't have the popularity to carry Justice League. While Wonder Woman was a great movie, it was still a movie that took place in another time period, so it's not as much of a lead-in to Justice League. Meanwhile, there are no solo films to introduce Aquaman, Cyborg, and Flash. If they used the Flash from the TV show, they could've gotten a decent amount of buzz, but this is an entirely different version of the character, so it's doubtful there would be as much carry-over from the fans of the show. Cyborg is pretty obscure to non-comic fans unless they watch the Teen titans cartoons and Aquaman has often been a punchline to comicbook jokes. This means the movie has to rely on a version of Batman from an unpopular movie that was often criticized for not getting Batman right, and Wonder Woman, who was in one highly praised movie that did not feature any other heroes.
shareWith Thor Ragnarok opening above $120 million, it's almost certain that Justice League will open way above $120 million. $ 150-160 is probably where this will end up and even higher with stellar reviews.
shareThor 3 is apparently a good film with the hype and good reviews it did well. Justice League has the unfortunate task being directly related to BvS, which is partially but not entirely made up for by Wonder Woman, which opened smaller but had great legs. If this film does not open similar to BvS, which seems unlikely, with at least some of the legs of Wonder Woman, its going to struggle to reach the kind of amounts it should. What is a successful BO for some films is not for Marvel and DC. BvS and Suicide Squad both had big BO neither are considered a big success because they fell below what WB was expecting critically and financially. Under a Billion launch for Justice League would be a bad sign for WB/DC.
shareSuicide Squad is most definitely considered a "big success" throughout the industry and I think even WB did not expect how big it's OW was or how leggy it turned out to be. It also sold a boatload of DVDS and BluRays.
Btw...I think SS was horrible but money is money and SS did better than expected.
But WB/DC must allow the reviewers to see the movie or perhaps more importantly write a review if they have seen the movie already. Isn't there an embargo on the reviews until a day or two days before release? Why? What are they afraid of?
Basically, they don't want to miss out on the pre-booking of tickets in case the reviewed are terrible (they can't get BvS:Martha terrible I am sure). This doesn't bode well for the movie.
The two things going for it are Whedon and (perhaps) return of Superman (even in a cameo at the end). WB/DC are not even using either of these in the promotion.
Yeah the reviews thing is an extremely bad sign, because good reviews are great for promoting a major film event. For them to be waiting seems to indicate Whedon could not fix it even with seemly heavy cuts, the film is oddly short.
