Lmao. I value the sanctity of video games too much to let this man continue. He's free to make other films, though.
shareAs opposed to all the great pieces of cinema that emerged from Super Mario Bros, Double Dragon, Hitman, Tomb Raider, Doom, Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter, etc, etc...
I say having people like Boll in the industry makes cinema that little bit more colourful. That's not a defence of his work, just an opinon.
Having recently sat through both Bloodrayne II and the bloated, pretentious, yet somehow acclaimed The Secret of the Grain (winner of the Cesar award for best picture), I actually found Bloodrayne II the less painful of the two!

Screw you guys. I actually pity Boll. He made a few bad movies, so what? Postal was funny as hell, and Tunnel Rats was excellent! He loves what he does, and if I were him, I wouldn't stop for anyone either. He's getting better, and I pray he doesn't quit, because he has quite a bit of potential.

But let him practice getting better on movies other than adaptions of awesome video games. Once he can consistantly make good movies, then he can try the video games, even though he's pretty much ruined.
shareDamn right. It's like, if a band do a few bad songs, it doesn't mean they'll never do good ones and you should hate everything they do. I liked Alone in the Dark, Bloodrayne 2, SEED scared the *beep* out of me, POSTAL was fantastic... I hated House of the Dead but that doesn't mean I'm going to judge everything else he's done.
shareSo agree, postal on my top 10 list for sure!! This is all just a hype, hope he never stops making excellent movies like postal!
shareAmen to that. Although I don't pity him, I respect him, because he's got bigger balls (in real life I might add) than Ari Gold from Entourage.
The petition reads
"Just getting funding alone shows people have faith and trust in him to create a like able movie that will return a profit. "
Funny how some one that started the petition is too dumb to read up on germanys film laws. If you produce a film in germany you get to deduct like $50,000 per investor off taxes if the film makes profit. But if it flops the whole films a tax write off. Hence germany gets more films made and Boll writes his own ticket.
Ill film my dog crapping if it gets me a tax write off how about everybody else or does no one else pay taxes?
I've just finished watching this. Ordinarily i'm dissuaded by anything with a low rating on IMDB, and once or twice i've watched films simply BECAUSE they have a good IMDB mark. This has come back to haunt me on occasion with such sanctimonious stinkers as "Into the Wild".
But 3.7/10 for this? It was a bloody good movie!!
I can only conclude that the director himself is unpopular, because I see no reason to slate "Tunnel Rats" from what I saw. It was gripping, gritty, suspense-ridden, claustrophobic, action-packed and saddening.
A masterpiece perhaps it is not, but nevertheless I thoroughly enjoyed it, and would rate it as a damned good war film.
Peace out.
I was hoping to see thousands of supporters... So pity, only 138 people.. :)
shareI am amazed, all of the critics out there that are so quick to judge, what have ANY of you done lately, have any of you made a movie, let alone had the confidence of anyone else enough to have that person finance your work?, I didn't think so. Uwe is not someone I think of when I want to watch a good movie, but damn does he give me hope, hope that others who have NOT been born into movie land royalty can actually get in the business and do what they love. Age old adage to live by: "ya don't like it? don't watch it" quit your gd *^&^( whining, or go out there and show him how it is done. Oh, and btw...video games to movies...yaaaaaaah (*shakes in delight*) just be glad they even get made, considering the prime audience is slated to those to inept to find a sexual partner remember that by whining you are bringing more attention to your already sad existence, Peace Bit*hs
"F*%k you all!, all I ever wanted, EVER!, was just to be loved for who I am, not the whore you all think I am!"
Haven't seen Tunnel Rats yet, so I can't draw a hasty judgment of it (as 80% of you obviously have). From what I've seen in the comments/reviews section, most of them think it's a pretty good movie.
So, who are the 500+ spineless priks (yes, the misspelling is intentional)who gave it a 1?
Come on, Uwe's not the best director, I think everyone will agree on this, but the worst?
For Chrissake people, there's a whole branch of Hollywood movie makers especially dedicated to make corny, brainwashed, horrendous films (pretty much everything connected with the names Hilton, Olsen, Lundgren and Disney DVD productions), they have the same or bigger budget as Uwe does, and they're still crap. Even half of the so-called A-list Hollywood directors are talentless hacks with a couple of influential friends and a great film crew (Bay can't direct to save his life, but has a whole army of seasoned cameramen who save every single one of his movies.
I say give the man a chance already! If you want to hate somebody, hate Hollywood studios for the bile trash they are, and not someone who's trying to live his dream, but no one lets him.
Is it envy guys? I sure as heck do envy him for his determination. And he will prove you guys wrong some day. He just has to keep writing his own stuff, be it out of anger, bitterness or pure joy. While I still think everything he's done up until Postal was utter nonsense at best, Postal itself was was one of the most honest films I've seen.
Even Sir Ridley Scott has made some mistakes, and he doesn't get crucified because of it. Not to mention the God awful British chap who actually censored his own movie out of pure greed(and PG-13 means exactly that, and yes, I'm talking about Max Payne). As for you bitter gamers out there, the only good game Boll ruined was Bloodrayne, the rest was dog's testicles anyway.
I'm even making a special episode of my movie show about the man. As with all movies, the same rules apply for Boll's: Don't like it, don't watch it.
And that's all she wrote.
The spice must flow!
Oh, in reference to the good games Boll ruined, Alone in the Dark is a good game too. Alas, only the first two sequels.
Ta-ta!!!
The spice must flow!

138 people, heck be happy, that's more than I expected! The man made so many bad films, spat in the face of both movie and gaming industry and its fans, its not something he can redeem for by making one or two good movies. Hell, not even Jesus could save this poor sod.
