6/10 Typical, formulaic, too many sideshows
The best boxing movies were Cinderella Man and Raging Bull and Joe And Max, they all had a fair number of sideshows. The Fighter had too much overblown drama with too many people yelling at each other, and could Amy Adams stuff her brassiere with anything more? "Quite yelling at my mother!" "Stop yelling at him!" "You shut up" No you shut up. And by the way, I didn't even recognize Melissa Leo under that awful wig. This movie proves that people can make horrible choices in life, including doing crack and boxing.
The close-ups of Amy Adams and Leo ringside are almost comical. I'm certain the Director said, "Pretend there are boxers in the ring, and you're concerned. Action!"
Another thing that detracted was the number of commercials on the SPIKE Channel during this movie, 5 minutes of ads. I recorded it and then zapped thru the ads but that's an awful lot, meaning SPIKE was making a ton of money, but it also ruined the film.
