She seems typical----"I love all my kids the same" What parent doesn't say that? And they all have their favorites.

It's obvious from the start, That Dicky is the favorite son, everything was about Dicky ----Micky was an afterthought

This is typical of most families, 1st son gets it all.

Even when they fail

Glad Micky stood up at the end

Whalberg should have been nominated for his understated acting, it was perfect.

Actually, most families don't take it to that extreme. The mother in this film was typical NPD (Narcissistic Personality Disorder). Dickie was the "golden child" and Micky was the "scapegoat kid." Again, this is taken to the EXTREME so goes way beyond mere "favoritism."
