Why cast the younger actor to portray
the much older brother?
shareWahlberg is such a boring, spineless lightweight. He acts with little or no alcohol. Which dries his personality out and makes him appear younger.
Can't, I'm afraid. Matinee of Le Miz. Christ, I'll call you.
I was reading on another thread the one about how Wahlberg brings down the movie one of the main reasons why the film was made was because he is a fan of Mickey Ward.
shareWahlberg was a big reason this film was made in the first place. Naturally, he decided to take the younger and less commanding role. This also happened because it’s acting 101 (casting actors in roles that defy their ages is nothing unusual). Getting the actor who fits the role best is what matters.
And no doubt Bale masterfully nailed the part. Wahlberg has had his moments on screen (mainly back in the 90’s when he was shedding the Marky Mark image), but he is most definitely limited as an actor and couldn’t have accomplished what Bale did.
