Really? I thought Rotti was one of the strongest points of Repo! He's actually my favourite character in this film and I loved the complexity of his character, how he was basically an evil mastermind and I absolutely loved his lines and his songs. Paul Sorvino had a great sinister performance.
His performance wasn't bad... but his singing was ... lack luster to say the least... although he had a strong character and acting performance he had the weakest vocal talents.
Huh...well, to each their own I suppose. For me he was one of the best singers in the movie as "Things You See In A Graveyard" as well as "Gold" are some of my favourite songs in the movie and the soundtrack. As far as vocal talents go, maybe the way he sang just wasn't your cup of tea. But as for me, I personally loved it and thought he did it very well. Not sure I buy the whole "weakest vocal talent" thing since you had Paris Hilton as his daughter starring alongside him and not to mention you had Alexa Vega with "Seventeen" (though her other songs were good for the most part.) I'd also choose Paul Sorvino over Bill Molesly and Nivek Ogre (Not saying any of them are bad per-say, I just liked Paul Sorvino more) the only singing I'd say was on-par with Paul Sorvino is Sarah Brightman, Terrance Zdunich and maybe Anthony Head. Definitely agree about him having a strong character though.
Guess I'll just agree to disagree then, though I admit it would be interesting to see Meat Loaf, maybe in the possible sequel or prequel as a former Geneco worker. Maybe he could try and overthrow Amber Sweet or something along those lines, would be interesting to see or at least think about anyways.
Its nice when people can agree to disagree with out name calling or being rude...
Personally I really thought Alexa Vega did really good, although vocally 17 was more of a rock song then follow the operatic format, but then again Rock is my chosen genre of music.
Personally I feel the strongest vocal performances were from Brightman, Head, Vega, Zdunich, Hilton, and Sorvino .... I don't really include Mosely or Ogre as there singing parts were very limited .. and based more in comedy.
In my opinion Meat Loaf would be up there with Brightman and Head though.
It may of been true that Meatloaf might of sang the songs better but I don't think he could of pulled off the character as well. I did enjoy Paul Sorvino's singing enough that it kept the illusion of the characters.
