Is it true that the real Victoria was a lot shorter?

I read that they made Emily Blunt look shorter on purpose because of this.

I don't know how they would have made Emily look "shorter" since she is quite a bit shorter in comparison to Rupert anyway. This is in keeping with the height difference between the two main characters, though of course it is not as great as it should be. I think Emily is about 5'8 and Rupert around 6'. The real Victoria and Albert were about 4'11 and 5'7 respectively.

Yes Victoria was 4'11 and Albert was 5'7. Definitely not the other way around. :) Typo on my part.

I think they were very clever in the way they made her look shorter, for example the bed was made higher than usual so her feet didn't touch the floor when she was sitting on the edge of it, also when on several chairs, and also on the throne.

Isn't Prince William like 6'3 or something?

All very good points. Touché.

BTW, the Queen is 5'4 - it says it on the official website for the British monarchy.

William's paternal grandfather, the Duke of Edinburgh is well over 6', his father, the Prince of Wales is 6' and his mother, the late Diana, Princess of Wales was 5'10". Genetic giraffes.

The Duke might have been a bit tall for his age, but Prince Charles is quite normal height, and now at least, Diana is normal as well. I know at 5'6 I feel like a midget sometimes. I've even had to start buying "short" jeans, instead of regular.

And you have to remember that this occurred in the early
1800's and people were shorter then. But pictures Ive seen
of them, Albert looks a whole head taller than Victoria,
at least. So they could have gotten some one taller for
Albert to be in keeping with the hiegth difference.

But..... Why would they because Rupert was PERFECT AS
ALBERT.

I have also read she was very tiny - probably no more than 5 ft tall. I think in her later life she became quite corpulent. Being a short person myself I have always had to keep a very strict eye on my weight because my height is so short it's hard to "disguise" if I even gain 5 lbs....it shows immediately.
