King William's wife (played by Harriet Walter)

I was VERY impressed by Harriet's performance. She has had many, many supporting roles in other English films or otherwise but I was very impressed with her character. I loved her character, and how she was so assertive and she really understood the mind of her husband and how to "wrangle" him! She was probably actually very vital in the reign of King William and from this movie, it tells us she also took time to advise Victoria and be a surrogate mother to her.

She was spectacular. I adored every moment she was onscreen - in a movie full of great performances, she stole the show. I've always liked her as an actress, but I really thought she got to shine in a new way in this role, and only wish we could have seen more of her.

I agree the actress was good and the role was interesting. My one criticism of the film is that there were lots of interesting influences in the young queen's life, as presented in the film, and I would have liked to know more about each of them King William's wife included.
