I thought the series before this was awful it seemed just to consist of Madge shouting and screaming all the time. This series started well but I'm afraid quickly ran out of steam with silly storylines. I mean what was all that with Joyce and Janey. Joyce was manageress lost her job to Janey who then quit her job and it went to Joyce again. And??
Have read that this was the last series. Of course, they have never said that before! I think we just have to take it that the Garvey's came up trumps this time. Looking back over it, it seems they decided to swing the axe after they started filming the series. From episode 3 they just seemed to rush to tie-up some of the stories. The Geoff adoption story seemed to spring from nowhere. Tiger getting the girl seemed to go from 0-60 in one episode. They began to build upon Geoff taking a liking to Tiger's aunty, but that went from 60-0... and what the hell was that crap with Matteo in the last episode? I know the guy's always been a bit of a rat, but there was no real build up to it, just his mother-in-law suddenly wanting to kill him. At least Liam left on a high note, although that stuff with his mum now seems redundant.
Sad end to the show , seemed rushed. I think with the right writers it could have been much better , really has slipped in the last few years . Had a few good moments though . Will miss the show .
Quoting the Facebook page: "we've just announced there'll be another series filming later this year! Slap on your suncream and expect a brand new family at the Solana!"
I don't know if that's good news or bad, this really was the weakest series ever with so many bitty story lines and nothing substantial holding the series together.
The Garvey's exit was ludicrous as was the whole Joyce/Janey thing and the way Mateo's mother-in-law was tacked on at the end was just plain desperate. There seem to be a lot of actors jumping ship.
Worst of all, however, and horribly discourteous, was the way Donald wasn't allowed a dignified exit. I felt so sorry for poor Janine Duvitski having to pretend Kenny Ireland was still alive and well in one of the silliest plot lines of all. It wasn't amusing so why do it?

Actually, Kenny Ireland was still alive during the filming of series 7. He just took time out from this series because of his ill health so they wrote in a temporary absence for him. He died between filming ending and the series airing.
In fact I think I remember him featuring in a scene where he's talking on the phone with Jacqueline, we obviously only hear his voice.

Incorrect. Kenny had died through filming while in hospital. The voice on the phone was actually a voice impersonator, after Kenny had passed.
