shareIs there a film with a more gratuitous display of nudity than this film? It's been a while since I saw this film, but I remember at the time thinking "what was the point of THAT?" Not that I didn't enjoy it (I did) but it just struck me that someone decided 'we need to see her tits.'
shareThe intent of that brief shot, as I saw it, was to demonstrate something about the prudery of the era. She'd just finished having sex with him and yet she reacts almost shamefully when the sheet falls away, exposing her breast. There's nothing profound about it, but it's intended to demonstrate that she wasn't someone who was completely comfortable around him to the point of ennui, as was the case with his wife.
shareDitto. If it were to show pudeness of the era, they would have had the man do the same thing. As usual, it was just a "we need to her tits" thing decided by the suits.
