Beach scene

There was such a great constrast between the two moms- the neighbor mom is holding her son with happiness and love, while April is brushing her daughters hair with no emotion. Everything she did was joyless.
She never would have been happy in Paris because life is what you make it. She was tortured because she chose to be, and the move was really a fantasy.

I got the feeling that April would never be satisfied, whether she went to Paris, or whether she stayed in the USA.
So I agree that even if April & Frank actually made it to Paris, very soon April would get tired of her "secretarial job" (as she put it) and would just end up as dissatisfied w/ her life as before.
Like she said to Shep at that Cafe, "we were just not that special".
Eventually, April would go back to that thought, (that they were just not that special) and her vicious circle would begin again...probably ending in divorce or some other catastrophe in Paris.
