What a dumb ending (Spoilers for those who haven't seen season 2)

I finally thought that Sam was going to get out of his deal with the Devil. Everyone here pretty much knew Reaper stood little to no chance of being renewed, so why end the season on a cliffhanger? I hate when show creators do that! The build up was great, Andie put her soul on the line, they got the table mirror to screw up the Devil, and then it came to the final show down. I was going nuts when the Devil only got in 1 quarter, I finally thought "this is it! the show is going to end on a happy note and a closed ending to satisfy everyone!" But then that gay guy broke Sam's hand and that was the end of it, man do these creators feel good when the watchers feel like crap? Another series finale, with yet another series cliffhanger, such BS.

Agree with you, OP. It was a near-perfect opportunity for a closer. I was hoping that Sam would somehow win the quarters match, even with the broken hand, thus winning everything AND finally proving that he's not such a screw-up with EVERYTHING. He would have regained his soul, rescued his girl, and boosted his self-esteem as well.
Oh well. :P

DANIEL:Tastes like chicken
SAM:So what's wrong with it?
DANIEL:It's macaroni and cheese..

When I watched the last episode, I didn't think it would be the ultimate final episode. I had hoped that there was a plan for the next season, and an explanation for why Sam "needed" to lose.

Unfortunately, there is no new season.

There might be a new season. Keep up with the demand on www.reaperdmv.com. Unfortunately, we haven't gotten any news yet. That could be good or bad. It's not officially canceled yet.

I hate that the news from the network seemed positive as though there would be a new season (full length) and then its put on the shelf, and of course the actors have to find another job, they cant just sit around and hope the show that got cancelled by a network that seems to love killing shows in favor of teen bop crap will get renewed. Of course if the projects they are moving on to get picked up the less chance there is of Reaper surviving, meanwhile we get a cliff-hanger ending, the cast loves doing the show and want to continue it but they also have to make a living which unfortunately lessens the possibility of an ending of any kind.

And since the show is so great at building towards its season finale i dont think a movie will be able to replicate the same feel you get from watching it in a season format, even if they did multiple movies (cause of the time in-between releases of say a 2 hour movie would be so long not to mention the build wouldnt be as gradual). Hopefully it will survive and we wont have to settle for a movie(s).

Even if they would have filmed an alternate ending to the final episode i would still want to know what would have come of the storyline we were originally shown, you would figure that CW (dawn osteroff) would have told the creators that the show wasn't likely to get renewed immediately so they could have aired a less open-ended season/series finale.

I even watched the extras on season 2 hoping to find out what the writers were planning to do in season 3. Of course nothing was mentioned & I was left with a cliffhanger. Sigh. It would have been great if the season ended with Sam getting his soul back & living happily ever after.

Maybe they ended on a cliffhanger to try and drum up support for the show? To galvanise the fans into action, for example. Futurama and Family Guy were both cancelled, then brought back. Buy the DVDs, sign petitions, lobby the network - whatever!

You'll have to excuse me, I'm not from this planet.
